Judy Farrell was an American actress who has been active in the film industry from 1969 to 2006. She is known for her role as Nurse Able on the television comedy series M*A*S*H. Judy Farrell Biography

Judy Farrell, born and raised in Quapaw, Oklahoma, had a passion for theatre from a young age. She pursued this passion by earning a fine arts degree in theatre from Oklahoma State University. After graduation, Farrell continued her education by studying for a master’s degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). It was at UCLA where she met actor Mike Farrell, who would later become her husband.

After completing her studies, Farrell worked as an English and Drama teacher at Laguna Beach High School in California. She was not only dedicated to her student’s education but also to her own acting career. In the 1960s, Farrell and her husband Mike performed together at the Laguna Playhouse. Although the couple divorced in the early 1980s, they remained friendly and continued to work together on projects, including the popular television show MAS*H.

Farrell’s role as Nurse Able on MAS*H is one of her most notable performances. The show, which aired from 1972 to 1983, followed the lives of medical personnel during the Korean War. Nurse Able was a recurring character on the show, and Farrell’s talent and dedication to her craft made her a fan favourite. The show’s creators even incorporated elements of Farrell’s personal life into the script, including her hometown of Quapaw and her daughter Erin’s name.

In addition to her work on MAS*H, Farrell also appeared in several other television series, including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Partridge Family, and The Love Boat. Later in her career, Farrell took on a new role as a writer for the soap opera Port Charles, where she penned 13 episodes.

Despite her success on screen, Farrell never forgot her passion for teaching. She continued to teach acting classes throughout her career, sharing her knowledge and experience with aspiring actors. Farrell was also involved in charitable work, including supporting organizations that helped victims of domestic violence.

Sadly, on April 2, 2023, Farrell passed away from complications of a stroke at the age of 84.
